Terms and Conditions
Yo Bro-Yo Girl Youth Initiative Society (the “Society”) is excited to offer you a volunteer engagement (the “Engagement”) with the Society. In consideration of the Society providing resources, space, experience, and training as may be required, and other good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, you agree to participate in the Engagement on the following terms and conditions:
1. TERM: The Engagement shall be for the school year of 2024-2025, unless terminated earlier by either party in accordance with this Agreement.
2. VOLUNTEER DUTIES: Without payment or compensation of any kind whatsoever, you agree to perform the duties described in Appendix “A” of this Agreement, and those duties assigned to you from time to time by the Society, on the days and during the hours agreed to between you and the Society.
You acknowledge that some duties may require background inquiries such as criminal record checks and you agree to obtain and submit those records upon request of the Society.
3. VOLUNTEER RELATIONSHIP: The Engagement is unpaid and you agree that you will perform the duties under the Engagement on a volunteer-basis. At no point will you be considered an employee for the Society, nor will you hold yourself out as an employee of the Society. You agree that any volunteer duties you perform during the Engagement do not constitute a guarantee or promise of future employment, nor do they entitle you to greater consideration for any future employment or volunteer opportunities.
4. RULES AND POLICIES: You agree to familiarize yourself and comply with the Society’s rules and applicable policies, which the Society may amend from time to time without advance notice, for the duration of the Engagement. These include rules regarding dress code, the Society’s Confidentiality Agreement, Bullying and Harassment Policy, and Privacy Policy.
5. ASSUMPTION OF RISKS: Participation in the Engagement may involve a risk of injury and other dangers and hazards, including but not limited to: personal injury, death, property damage, expense, and exposure to field hazards (e.g. wildlife, inclement weather, rocky or slippery terrain, and dangers of vehicle and other travel). It is your responsibility to inform yourself of the risks, if any, associated with the Engagement. By participating in the Engagement, you will be deemed to have accepted responsibility for all such risks.
6. RELEASE: You, for yourself, your heirs, executors and administrators, successors and assigns, hereby release and forever discharge the Society and its officers, directors, servants, employees, agents, independent contractors, subcontractors, volunteers and representatives, who are in any way connected to the Engagement (the “Releasees”), of and from any and all manner of actions, causes of action, suits, proceedings, contracts, claims, demands and liabilities whatsoever, in law or in equity, which you ever had, may now or hereafter have for or by reason of any loss, damage or injury suffered by you or any other person by reason of any cause, matter or thing whatsoever arising directly or indirectly out of the performance by you of your duties under this Agreement and the attached addendum/appendices (if applicable), or otherwise in any way related to or arising in connection with the Engagement or this Agreement and the attached addendum/appendices (if applicable).
7. TERMINATION: Either party may terminate this Agreement at any time by giving notice in writing to the other and as of the effective date of such termination, you will no longer perform any further duties under the Engagement.
8. JURISDICTION: This Agreement shall in all respects be construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable therein.
9. COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION: You consent to the collection, use and disclosure of all personal information contained in this Agreement and otherwise collected by or on behalf of the Society for all purposes in accordance with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act and the Society’s Privacy Policy.
10. CONFIDENTIALITY: You agree to the terms outlined below in Appendix “B” of this Agreement.

APPENDIX “A”
VOLUNTEER DUTIES
Your volunteer duties will include:

Job Purpose
To support Program Facilitators in the delivery of YBYG programs at their school.
Duties and Responsibilities
Volunteers provide support to Program Facilitators by performing a wide range of activities including some or all of the following:
- Providing support to the Program Facilitator/Program Assistant in delivering programs at their school;
- Participating in activities/events to further develop leadership skills and workrelated experience;
- Being positive role models for youth.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Education – must be in school and working toward graduation.
- Working toward – professional certification in: National Coaching Certification Level A & B, First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Food Safe.
- Working toward specialized training in: Suicide Prevention, MCFD Child Abuse & Neglect.
- Skills – demonstrated strong leadership skills, ability to work well with others, sound conflict resolution skills, professional and friendly manner, punctual and dependable.
- Abilities – physically fit, athletic competency in one or more sports, working toward an Orange Belt in Jiu Jitsu or Judo.
Working Conditions
Regular weekday work, some evening and weekend work for presentations and special events, some outdoor work; ability to travel between schools and to program/community events (bus tickets will be provided).
Physical Requirements
Required to be physically active for extended periods of time.
APPENDIX “B”
YO BRO | YO GIRL YOUTH INITIATIVE SOCIETY CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT
In consideration of my employment/contract of service/volunteer commitment (as applicable, hereafter “Engagement”) or continuation thereof with the Yo Bro | Yo Girl Youth Initiative Society (the “Society”), I agree that both during and after my Engagement with the Society, I will:
a) follow any Society policies or directions to ensure the security and integrity of all Confidential Information (as defined below) of the Society;
b) only use, discuss or disclose Confidential Information as directed by senior management of the Society or as reasonably necessary to perform my Engagement; and
c) not use or disclose Confidential Information for any other purpose.
I acknowledge that given the highly private and sensitive personal information the Society holds about its participants and their families and the high standard of confidentiality required of the Society by its partner organizations and funders, any breach of this Agreement shall entitle the Society to terminate my Engagement. For employees, such termination would be for cause.
“Confidential Information” means any and all confidential information relating to the business and operations of the Society, including, without limitation:
i. personal information about programme participants and their families, including health, education and justice system interactions;
ii. the Society’s financial information;
iii. information about funding or grants and applications for same and funders and donors or potential funders or donors, fund development or fundraising/marketing strategies;
iv. handbooks or policies;
v. information about or from partner organizations (e.g. Health Authorities or School Boards).
Information you can prove was in the public domain at the time of your use or disclosure of it is excluded unless public by reason of a breach of confidentiality.
At the end of my Engagement with the Society, for whatever reason, or earlier if requested by the Society in writing, I agree to immediately deliver up to the Society any document, account, record, paper, electronic data, or device that is in my possession, power or control that contains Confidential Information and to delete all copies held on personal electronic devices or internet accounts within my control (after ensuring the Society retains a copy). I agree to confirm compliance with the foregoing in writing if requested.
