Empowering Young Women

Empowering Young Women is a transformative 10-week program designed to build self-awareness, confidence, and personal safety skills in young women. Through a combination of hands-on activities and guided discussions, participants gain a deeper understanding of their strengths, challenges, and personal boundaries, empowering them to navigate the world with confidence.

The program places a strong emphasis on environmental awareness and situational assessment, equipping participants with strategies to recognize and avoid potentially dangerous situations. Led by a certified self-defense instructor, students learn practical and effective techniques that can be used in crisis situations, ensuring they are equipped to respond to any challenges that arise.

In addition to physical safety, the program focuses on assertive communication, helping young women recognize potential triggers, interpret social cues, and de-escalate tense situations in a way that protects their well-being. By fostering a sense of empowerment and resilience, Empowering Young Women ensures that participants leave with the tools and confidence to navigate their world safely, assertively, and with purpose.

“Joe Calendino and the YBYG team have made a difference in the lives of many students. I have watched many troubled youth from our school and community become young, confident men and women, who are now mentoring their peers, taking on leadership roles, and thriving toward their preferred futures. They are part of the YBYG team, giving back to the community, and continuing to grow and learn as young adults.
